1 week, in-class

The workshop is a full-time program, designed as a lab with practical sessions, lectures and discussion forums.

It is highly practical and designed to fully immerse students in learning movement, coaching and actor training.

Be prepared to live, eat and breathe movement for the entire duration of the course!

We are welcoming dancers, movers, choreographers, physical theatre actors, contemporary circus performers, musical theatre performers, performance artists from all over the world who wish to improve or diversify their skills and knowledge, as well as practitioners from an allied sport/practice who need a deeper understanding of movement in contemporary performance.

Students will be introduced to

Physical Action

You may expect to encounter different movement and directing techniques varying from the principles of traditional theatres to the modern approaches. Practical sessions are designed to enhance skills as both a movement teacher and movement director.

At this program:

  • Learn how to tell a story through the actors’ bodies and movement;
  • Develop deep understanding of the actors’ movement;
  • Learn composition of the movement on stage;
  • Research the connection between physical action and voice, gesture, movement, dance and word;
  • Explore approaches to unfolding the actor’s creative nature;
  • Apply your knowledge to work with actors.

The training is designed as a multidisciplinary intensive lab with participation of and practice with performers from different techniques.

Each week, students receive distant tasks, assignments, cases for self-studies which gradually lead them to
understanding of the topic and the ability to apply knowledge to the projects.

The Ostrenko Brothers’ Method is a systematic approach to performance, which generates innovative productions utilizing concepts, ideas, and existing play-texts. It introduces some of the effective techniques and approaches towards contemporary performance practice in the context of the short rehearsal time and multicultural aspect of the creative team.

The Ostrenko Brothers’ Method is internationally renowned, from Russia to the USA, from Iceland to South Africa, from Canada to Australia, from Singapore to Italy and beyond.
